Because I am already more likely to be harassed or abused, and even killed than a man, I impose certain restrictions on myself and inevitably choose my clothes accordingly. While I take all kinds of measures, I have to learn to live with discrimination. I am subjected to it just because I am a woman. There is the same discrimination in my social life because I can drink more alcohol than a man, I can drink 'like a man,' and because I have a better conversation than a man, I can be a 'man-talker.' Of course, there is some sexism that I am exposed to not only socially but also in my professional life; for example, in some of my former workplaces, it was decided that I could not handle various responsibilities just because I was a woman. I was able to work in certain positions depending on when I was going to get married. I have learned to fight this at every point in my life. Although gender inequality is a global problem, it is based on different foundations. When we focus on Turkey, the causes of gender inequality are generally culture, lack of education, religious beliefs, and the positioning of women in society.&nbsp;The sub-base of culture comes from the positioning of the 'state father' and a patriarchal social structure. While the existence of the man constitutes the basic building block of society, the woman is seen as a 'reproductive tool.' When the&nbsp;'second class' perspective created by this viewpoint is combined with religious beliefs, this positioning becomes the base of society.&nbsp;It is also a fact that the second class perspective is active in practice. In this situation, which is embedded in the family structure, a girl's biggest goal is 'marriage, settling down and starting a family,' while the role assigned to a man is to have a good career. Of course, this puts an unnecessary responsibility on the man, but that is a topic for another article. The girl, with the education she receives from her family, builds her life purpose on having a home.
